Fighterbase Update!

May 16, 2010 1 comment

I have updated Fighterbase with a couple of new features. The main ones being the addition of Fighterbase player profiles, the ability to add additional information to your profile (via the ‘notes’ field) and also dinky little character icons created by SpeedBrkr.

Fighterbase is close to reaching 200 registered users which is awesome to see. Thanks for the support!

Fighterbase player profile.

Changes:

- Added Fighterbase username profiles. Clicking the name displayed in the ‘username’ field from returned search results will take you to that player’s Fighterbase profile where additional information can be found
- Added ‘notes’ field to player profile. Use this to add any extra details you like such as your dog’s name or perhaps your favourite Britney Spears song
- Fixed some Internet Explorer bugs, but not all. Seriously, stop using that shit
- Added character icons to Fighterbase profiles using SpeedBrkr’s fantastic art work.
- Added crude admin panel

Zombie Street Fighters!

May 11, 2010 Leave a comment

An odd idea . . .

“The zombies created by concept artist from Manuel Augusto Dischinger Moura (or Manuhell for brevity’s sake) go a step further – they know Kung Fu and other crazy martial arts. The 27-year-old from São Paulo, Brazil has taken some characters from a popular fighting game and given them a zombie makeover.”

You can visit the creator’s page here.

Edit: Larger versions here.

Super Bug Fighter IV

May 9, 2010 Leave a comment

A few bugs have found their way into Super which is understandable as the console release is essentially the public test-bed given that we have no arcade version for now.

A thread has emerged on SRK compiling a list of bugs which are amusingly graded into tiers based on how much they impact gameplay. Guy’s throw combo bug is particularly nasty for him as are the remaining unblockable Ultras for those unfortunate enough to be on the receiving end of someone ballsy enough to give them a shot. Then of course you have Fei Long’s infinite on Juri and so on.

Worth keeping in mind is that the forthcoming release of the Tournament Mode add-on for the game will also double as a service pack or patch for Super. Ono has also hinted that this may also invoke some rebalancing tweaks should any characters prove to be particularly dominant. Or too weak? Who knows?

So far I’m personally not seeing any overly dominant characters at all though I maintain that the game is simply too young yet for anything concrete to be declared in terms of tiers. Its pretty clear though that some ‘strong’ characters are emerging.

An opening round EX wheel kick from Abel the other say I swear gnawed off almost 1/4 of my health with Akuma though. Just like old times. Ouch.

Interesting Hitboxes in SSFIV

May 8, 2010 Leave a comment

I have compiled all of Akuma’s hitboxes which can be downloaded from this page.

Blackadde from SRK has compiled a list of interesting hitboxes for various attacks for all sorts of characters that many are perhaps familiar with. Seeing the hitboxes illustrates why some attacks are quite effective and why some are quite poor. A good example is Seth’s j.hp – which is certifiably insane. Its obvious why it is so effective.

Some odd ones:

- Ryu’s Ultra II
- Seth’s j.hp
- Flash kick 1
- Flash kick 2

The post can be read here.
